Release Notes: Rocket: March 22, 2016 (3.1.1rc2)

The Rocket 3.1.1rc2 image is now available for Lightspeed Systems Support to assist customers that would like to upgrade to this full-featured Release Candidate (Web Filter, Spam Filter, Email Archiving) on existing hardware.

To upgrade, contact support.

This is the largest Rocket release to date! In addition to the following trimmed-down release notes, this release also includes hundreds of other enhancements, changes, and bug fixes.

New Features

RC2:

  • Added support for transparent proxy in bridge mode.
  • Transparent proxy support has been added for HTTPS traffic.
  • Added the ability to create custom dashboard widgets from the Activity Log report.

RC1:

  • Updated UI – Streamlined and modernized administrator console and access pages.
  • Battery Mode – A redesign of the current Parent/Child implementation that allows for more flexibility, simplified configuration and greater scalability.
  • Updated Dashboard – Summary reports and system- and battery-health monitoring.
  • New Notification Center – Get notifications of critical issues, available updates, licensing issues and more.
  • Cloud Backups – Option to offload and restore from configuration backups stored on the cloud.
  • Real-Time Reports – Auto-refreshing Web Activity reporting.
  • Office 365 Support – Administrators and users can now authenticate to the Rocket and apply filtering using Office 365 credentials.
  • Documentation Integration – The Rocket console uses smart searching to link to relevant Community help articles.
  • New Auditing Reports- Enhanced searching and rollback options.
  • Secure Management Console – Simple configuration to force secure console connections.
  • Lightspeed Sealed Categories – Enhanced configuration for ensuring compliance.
  • Expanded Administrator Roles – New more granular controls for administrator access including a new Dashboard-viewer role.
  • Enhanced SSL handling – Smarter handling so you get fewer end-user notifications, enhanced support for the latest browsers and operating systems, and faster SSL resolution

Changes

RC2:

  • The ‘Proxy Server’ page has been reworked to allow easier configuration of new and existing proxy options.
  • Cloud auth types have been added to the list of available inspectors.
  • Self signed console certificates have been updated to use a SHA256 signature algorithm.
  • Added the ability to configure an alternate ‘Router ID’ when configuring WCCP.
  • Updated web service configuration for ITC.
  • Added the ability to define proxy SSL decryption per tier.
  • Updated proxy port configuration to ensure rules are assigned to the proper port.
  • Updated google apps domain restriction support for new proxy options.
  • Destroying a battery configuration will now warn that a reboot is required on all members.
  • Updated the terminal admin console to display currently installed rocket software version.

RC1:

  • Spam Filter Enhancements – Including enhanced pre-queue blocking, Locale and spam summary delivery options.
  • Enhanced User Agent Reports – Reports now include the Agent and Operating System versions.
  • Custom Report Restrictions – Custom reports are now only visible to administrators in the same tier.
  • Proxy Server SSL Decryption Enhancement – Better support for newer browsers with fewer end-user warnings.
  • Backup and Restore Enhancements – Rocket backups now include relevant system files to help simplify the restore process.
  • Report Searching Enhancements – Report filters now use exact matches by default and accept wildcard (*) values for fuzzy searches.
  • Report Exporting Enhancements – PDF exports are now easier to read, and XLS export times are greatly reduced.
  • Addition Authentication Source Option – Multiple independent Mobile Filter, RADIUS and Proxy authentication sources.

Fixes

RC2:

  • Updates page was not showing correct available package update.
  • Corrected an issue with application worker queue naming.
  • IPv6 and Auxiliary interface changes are now directly applied.
  • Corrected UI formatting issue on ‘About’ page.
  • Fixed an authentication issue that could cause a redirect loop for proxy clients.
  • Corrected a configuration issue for certain proxy configurations lacking forward ports.
  • Corrected migration issues for upgrades from Rocket 2.x.
  • Image installer updated to use correct partition sizes.
  • Corrected formatting issue while viewing system logs from UI.
  • Fixed an issue where the spam user portal could display all email activity.
  • Corrected an issue that would prevent file sharing services from starting when the configured hostname matched the default workgroup name.
  • Corrected the path used for proxy pac files.
  • Fixed RADIUS authentication device id duplication.
  • Corrected mobile filter authentication sources description.
  • Fixed an issue where users were unable to search by ’To” field in Email Activity report.
  • Updated the time listed in reports widgets to use local time.
  • Fixed an issue to ensure logging to cache log when rolled.
  • Corrected formatting issues with updated backup & restore page.
  • Corrected the note in ‘Allowed Referrers’ dialog.
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent enforcement of ’Allowed Referrers’.
  • Corrected a formatting issue for the feedback form dialog.
  • Corrected dashboard widget chart labeling.
  • Corrected a UI navigation issue when updating a Custom Access Pages.
  • Updated the proxy module package to prevent unexpected core dumping.
  • Fixed an issue that would produce an awry error when an existing backup was listed on the backup page.
  • Corrected an issue where the configuration loader would error out while attempting to load an unimplemented feature.
  • Fixed an issue where Google safe search & thumbnail filtering URLs were not properly redirected.
  • Corrected mobile filter client filtering behavior response when defined in a filtered tier.
  • Corrected an issue that could cause proxy clients to receive root tier policy.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented spam user rules from loading on a member server.
  • Removed a limitation that would prevent scheduling spam summary delivery at 12am.
  • Corrected an issue with spam matching the same spam pattern id.
  • Fixed an issue prevented categorization of unknown domains.
  • Corrected widget routing on battery master servers.
  • Corrected firewall rule type options for upcoming firewall rule management.
  • Fixed a missing translation for bandwidth management toggle.
  • Corrected an issue that would prevent email activity reporting after an upgrade.
  • Fixed an issue preventing authentication and ident history reports from populating after an upgrade.
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent mail delivery in a battery configuration of master, spam and reporting members.
  • Corrected an issue that could prevent access to quarantined mail when upgrading an Advanced Reporting environment.
  • Fixed an issue that would prevent spam summaries from being generated at certain scheduled times.
  • Corrected an issue where archived mail retrieval could fail after upgrading an email archive server to a battery member.

RC1:

  • Numerous syncing and performance issues associated with the old Parent/Child mode are resolved.
  • Issues with nested and primary groups returning properly for users have been resolved.
  • Issues with User Agent heartbeats not being honored when new IP addresses were added to the client have been resolved.
  • Numerous policy server stability and error-handling issues resolved.
  • Numerous spam blocking stability and usability issues resolved.
  • Numerous Web Filter issues have been resolved including P2P exclusion matching, SSLv3 decoding, IPV6 filtering and DNS remapping issues.
